In Loving Memory of Joy Quick

July 30, 2024

A gardener of hearts and minds.

Remembering Joy

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we share the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Joy Quick. Joy’s spirit and contributions remain deeply woven into the memories of those who knew her and into the growth of the Marriage and Family Therapy profession across Hawaiʻi.

Joy was remembered as a beacon of compassion, dedication, and warmth. She served as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Hawaiʻi and helped shape the field through decades of service, education, and mentorship.

Her professional journey included many years with the Salvation Army Addictions Treatment Services, where she held leadership roles in admissions, outpatient services, and clinical direction. She also served as Director of Training for the MFT Program at Argosy University Hawaiʻi, where she supported students, colleagues, and future clinicians with care and commitment.

Joy’s legacy is one of growth, healing, and relational care. She nurtured the development of students, clinicians, and families with compassion, steadiness, and encouragement.

A Legacy of Care

In remembering Joy, we honor her by continuing the systemic and relational work she cared for so deeply. Her legacy reminds us to tend to our own growth, the growth of those we supervise and teach, and the growth of the families and communities we serve.

May her memory be a blessing and her legacy remain a guiding light for the MFT community in Hawaiʻi.

A hui hou, Joy.
