Pathway Requirements & Fees

All applicants begin by completing the HI-AMFT Supervisor Designation application form. A $40 application administrative fee is required at submission, except for Chaminade DMFT pathway applicants, for whom the application fee is waived.

Aspiring Supervisors – Full Requirements

This pathway is designed for clinicians developing their supervision skills through structured training and mentorship.

  • Complete HI-AMFT supervisor training program
  • Participate in mentorship and supervision process
  • Accrue required supervision hours
  • Submit documentation for review

Pathway Fee: $400 didactic course fee.

Chaminade DMFT Graduates – Verification Process

This pathway applies to graduates of Chaminade University’s DMFT program with embedded supervision training.

  • Verify completion of supervision training program
  • Submit documentation of training
  • Complete HIAMFT application process

Pathway Fee: No additional HIAMFT pathway fee. Training is completed as part of the Chaminade DMFT curriculum.

AAMFT Approved Supervisors – Hawaiʻi Recognition

This pathway allows AAMFT Approved Supervisors to obtain Hawaiʻi-specific designation.

  • Provide verification of AAMFT Approved Supervisor status
  • Complete Hawaiʻi-specific requirements
  • Submit application for review

Pathway Fee: $150 module access course fee.

Experienced Supervisors – Alternative Pathway

This pathway is designed for clinicians with extensive supervision experience who may not fit within other pathways.

  • Document supervision experience
  • Complete any required bridge coursework
  • Submit application and supporting materials

Pathway Fee: $150 module access course fee.
